Winterberry PSA ‼️

Winterberry leaves and berries are toxic to both dogs and cats! Please keep this in mind if you are planning on using it in any holiday containers this season.

PPS LOVES fresh Winterberry but due to the toxicity and how they tend to be a bit messy, we have been working on sourcing faux berries and we found some great ones! We absolutely will still be using live berries but it's good to have options!

It is such a relief to find products that are equally as beautiful as the live Winterberry but gives us the pieces of mind that all our little 4 legged clients are safe! ❤️

November in the garden feels like the perfect time

November in the garden feels like the perfect time to pause and reflect. The hustle of the growing season has slowed, and while there’s still a bit of work to do before winter sets in, it’s also a great opportunity to take stock of the garden as it is now. One fun project this month is to stroll through your garden with a fresh perspective, camera in hand, and start capturing snapshots of each bed.

Saving photos on your phone or computer will give you a great reference for planning next year, especially when winter has erased all the color from your memory. Take a good look at the layout—are there areas that got overcrowded? Any shrubs that are a little too big for their space or spots that could use more plants next year? Maybe a tree has grown taller and is now shading what used to be a sunny corner. These observations will help you decide if it’s time to move some plants around or leave things be.

Don’t rush into designing your beds for next year just yet! Simply taking stock of how everything looks now gives you a solid foundation for any adjustments later. Assess the health of your plants, making note of any that thrived or struggled. Before winter covers your beds in snow, this last walk-through allows you to reflect on what brought you joy this season and where there’s room for improvement.

So, pour yourself a hot cup of tea, bundle up, and enjoy one last peaceful stroll through your garden. You’ve earned it!
