Our Team

We have cultivated one of the best teams in the business because we focus on culture first, and train for technical skills second. Many of our team come from a variety of backgrounds, from agriculture, horticulture, art, retail and more.

What we share in common is our love of plants, working outside, positive attitudes, a natural curiosity and drive to learn more, and our unwavering attention to detail.

Meet the Team

Leigh McGonagle

Owner, Horticulturalist & Landscape Designer

Leigh grew up in the rural countryside outside of Ithaca, and has a Landscape Architecture degree from Cornell University. She has spent the last 18 years working in agriculture related fields, in nurseries, garden centers, florists, as well as large landscape contracting firms.

She spends time outside of work traveling, playing in her own gardens, reading, and playing music with friends.

Kalee Robbins

Maintenance Division Manager, Field Manager, Lead Gardener

Kalee holds a BFA from Wells College, in Aurora, NY and her artistic flair compliments her gardening know-how. She is currently studying for designation as a National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP).

Kalee has been skillfully and capably overseeing and working alongside our Fine Gardening and Enhancements teams for 5 years, developing and maintaining some of the loveliest gardens in the region.

Outside of work Kalee enjoys spending weekends adventuring with her two children, creating art, and traveling the world.

Alison Falkenburgh

Container Division Manager, Field Manager, Lead Gardener

Alison holds a MAT in Agriculture Education from Cornell University, in Ithaca, NY as well as a BT in Horticulture Business Management from Morrisville State College, in Morrisville, NY.

Alison joins our team with experience as a garden manager working on high end properties on the island of Nantucket, MA as well as in the Saratoga, NY region. She enjoys working with clients to make sure their needs are met and their gardens are looking the best they possibly can.

Alison has an amazing collection of houseplants that she tends to, while spending time out of work taking in baseball games, kayaking and going on walks with her dog Bella.

Linda Moon

Bookkeeper

Linda has come out of retirement to join us the last 5 years helping us take care of all the day to day financial tasks that go along with running a small business. Her background in Accounting and working at TRW her whole career have been an invaluable asset to help us grow.

Whenever Linda can, she is spending time with one of her many grandchildren, hopping in the RV with her husband and exploring anywhere there is a beach!

Karen Koegel

Lead Gardener

Karen joined us after 17 years working in the retail industry, and has loved switching gears to working outside and with plants everyday. She brings a creative flair with her degree in Studio Art and Art Education from the College at Saint Rose.

Her hobbies run the gamut from beekeeping, vegetable gardening, playing with her chickens, woodworking, cooking (with her famous cast iron skillet!), and is a trivia master.

Reenie Sansted

Nursery Manager

Reenie has spent her entire life around plants - and holds a degree in Education from Boston College, and took over the family nursery business (Baker’s Acres) in Groton for the last 20+ years. She brings an astounding amount of knowledge about caring for plants, and has fully taken over the reins for our in-house nursery at the shop.

She likes to spend her time outside of work with her family, walking, and gardening.

Liz Snyder

Landscape Designer

Liz joins us part-time while she runs her own remote landscape design business, and helps us out with designs for existing clients, as well as jumping in for container and holiday installations.

She holds a degree in Landscape Architecture from SUNY ESF in Syracuse, and has spent her career working in the landscape industry. She serves as Vice President of the NYS Nursery and Landscape Association, as well as President of the Regional Association in the Southern Tier.

Her hobbies include art, hiking, travel, cooking and hosting campfires with friends.

Lisa Reynolds

Clerk/Office Assistant

Lisa joined us part time in the summers in the off-season from her primary job at our local school.
