Depending on your location, temperatures may dip into the high 20s tonight 🥶 cover or move your tender plants into your garage!

Thankfully even with the beautiful weather we’ve been having, we didn’t get too overzealous and start planting our summer containers yet but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been shopping!

Don’t worry, we have moved plants into our hoop house and into our lounge area to keep all the beautiful tropicals safe!

We had a fun-filled day yesterday training on how our summer routes work, plant maintenance techniques, and how to install plants.

We even celebrated becoming #provenwinnerscertified with a pizza party for lunch, and then practiced installing plants in our #provenwinners display bed at the nursery. Can’t wait to show it off when things are in full bloom.

Meet Alison, our in house Seasonal Container Designer & your Property Field Manager!

Big Al as she is fondly called by the team has spent most of her career in the green industry. Alison holds a MAT in Agriculture Education from Cornell University, in Ithaca, NY as well as a BT in Horticulture Business Management from Morrisville State College, in Morrisville, NY.

Alison joins our team with experience as a garden manager working on high end properties on the island of Nantucket, MA as well as in the Saratoga, NY region. She enjoys working with clients to make sure their needs are met and their gardens are looking the best they possibly can.

Alison has an amazing collection of houseplants that she tends to, while spending time out of work taking in baseball games, kayaking and going on walks with her dog Bella.

L👀K at us now! 🤩

As Container Designers, it is our responsibility to make sure the containers look beautiful from day one of planting until the day the plants are removed for the next season...

The way we do this is by mixing plants that bloom at different times so there is always interest and a show happening!

-April 11th interest was Saxifraga(pink plant), Pansies (yellow) and the start of Columbine (blue).

-May 4th interest is now Columbine (blue), Freesia (light yellow), Pansies (yellow), Saxifraga (pink). The Muscari (tall blue) are just at the tail end of their bloom.

So what is next????

The tall plant in the middle is Nepeta (Catmint) and it is beginning to bud which means next week when we have sunshine and warmth it will start to show its blooms! Our guess is the timing will work perfectly for when the Muscari and Freesia end their blooms.

The Nepeta is a perennial with purple blooms that should last through the rest of May which is perfect since we plan to plant our summer annuals right at the start of June!
